When working towards a publication it is important to note that, from final submission, the lead-time until books are on the shelves is usually around two years. This means we are unlikely to see the Herstories from Portsmouth full works anytime before 2027. It’s a long wait, especially when the project was begun in 2023.
However, after a meeting today, we’re excited to share that while continuing to work on the bigger publication we’ll also be bringing a limited volume to fruition based on the Herstories poetry we’ve received. We expect this huge little something on the side to be available by February, 2026, in readiness for a launch event at Portsmouth Bookfest in just five months time. Of course, this means we need to get our skates on as there is much to do between now and then.
The poetry pamphlet is expected to be either a (32 or 40 page) laminated softback, of A5 size. It will have an introduction penned by project maestro Laurel Forster and a reflective piece by myself, sandwiching poetry from a broad spectrum of the Herstories contributors from each of the three cohorts we’ve run.
The price for this potentially important poetry pamphlet will be a tempting £8 as we want it to be accessible to all prospective buyers.

So, here’s to our new adventures and continued activism in the reclaiming and sharing of voices.
